On February 12, the Asian final of the 2019 Microsoft Imagine Cup was held in Sidney, Australia. 12 teams from 10 Asian countries competed in the Asian final. In the end, RailinNova, the champion of the Guangdong division competition solely hosted by Unicornfield and also the champion team of China division of the 2019 Microsoft Imagine Cup seized the second place in the Asian final with its project of Detection Robot for Rail Transit Operation, Maintenance and Service.
The 2019 Microsoft Imagine Cup was officially launched in November 2018. In Guangdong division, competitions were held in four cities (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhaoqing) in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and attracted nearly a hundred projects from twenty universities and colleges in Guangdong, covering various fields and industries such as transportation, energy, education, healthcare and environment protection.
This is the second time that Unicornfield hosts the Microsoft Imagine Cup. When the Microsoft Imagine Cup entered Guangdong for the first time last year, Unicornfield hosted the 2018 Microsoft Imagine Cup in Guangzhou, which laid a foundation for hosting the provincial event this year. Thanks to its excellent project and performance, RailinNova, the champion team of the Guangdong division, not only climbed to the top in China, but also seized the second place in the Asian final in Sydney.
The Imagine Cup not only helps excellent innovation projects become seen on national and world technology innovation display stages, but also enables student innovation project teams who are thoughtful and dynamic to access the market, effectively facilitating industrial and academic cooperation. It’s said that, the 98K Squad, the champion team of the 2018 Microsoft Imagine Cup in Guangzhou and the runner-up of the China final, set up a technology company after the event and entered Unicornfield, successfully completing its transformation from “innovation” to “business start-up”.
